The great thing about being a retired senior is that you can get away whenever you want and benefit from the fantastic deals frequently offered to seniors. And, if you are dating, seniors can make every day a day for romance.

You don't have to go on vacation or go away for the weekend to enjoy a romantic destination; you can hop on the greyhound or jump in the car and go out on a day trip. Most people live in places that enjoy lots of tourists, but we rarely take time to visit the spots that people come from all over the world to see, and they are right on our back door step. Check the entrance fee and go on the day they have senior discount. Then, make the most of a great day.

Do you have a botanical garden in your city? What about pristine beaches, spectacular architecture, or even great restaurants. Each one of these places can be the location for romance….all you need is two people.

For a romantic weekend getaway, or a fun family outing, there are few better options than a weekend train trip from Bellingham, WA to Seattle. It is simple and cheap to ride the Amtrak Cascades, with prices starting at just $45 per person round trip, and the trip from Bellingham to Seattle only takes 2 ½ hours.

The trip is very relaxing, and if you sit on the west side of the train you get magnificent views of the San Juan islands, Padilla Bay, the Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula. The train trip on the way back is even more spectacular, with the sun setting over the water where it meets the Chuckanut Mountains. The train arrives at the downtown Seattle King Street Station, from which you are close to many downtown hotel options. The nice ones can be very pricy, from $150-$300 a night average, but you may find last-minute deals online.

The difficult economy has made a lot of people think twice before splurging on a romantic getaway. Airline, hotel and travel booking companies are using social media as a way to offer discounts that you may not find elsewhere. There are many good Twitter sites to follow, including @traveldeals and @travel_ticker. The social shopping sites like Groupon and LivingSocial are another source of travel deals.
